Questions & Answers.
What is “homecare” and how is it different from other care services?
Homecare refers to non-residential support delivered in the client’s home. It can include personal care (washing, dressing, toileting), medication support, meal preparation, companionship, mobility assistance, light housekeeping, and help with daily routines. Unlike live-in or specialist complex care, homecare is more flexible and based on visits or regular shifts.
Who is homecare suitable for?
Homecare is ideal for people who want to remain in their own homes but require support with everyday tasks due to age, illness, disability, or recovery after surgery. It’s also useful for clients with moderate clinical needs who do not require hospital care but still benefit from professional assistance.
How often can homecare visits occur?
Visits can be scheduled as needed — from once or twice a day, to multiple visits per day, evening or overnight checks. We’ll tailor the schedule to the client’s routines, preferences, and needs.
Can homecare services be changed over time?
Yes. If needs increase or decrease, we can adjust the frequency, duration, or type of visit. We conduct regular reviews and encourage feedback to ensure care remains appropriate.
How long does a typical homecare visit last?
Visit duration depends on the tasks required—some may be 30 minutes, others 1–2 hours or more. We’ll agree on a plan that balances sufficient time to meet needs and efficient care delivery.
Are your care staff trained and vetted?
Yes. All care staff are thoroughly vetted (background checks, references), receive extensive training in personal care, safeguarding, first aid, and relevant specialties. Their performance is monitored, and they receive ongoing development.
How do you ensure safety in the home environment?
We conduct a home risk assessment before beginning care. We look for hazards (trip hazards, slippery surfaces, poor lighting) and make recommendations. Carers are trained in safe handling, infection control, and emergency protocols.
What happens if my usual carer is unavailable (e.g. illness or holiday)?
We maintain a roster of backup staff and contingency plans, so care is not interrupted. We aim to ensure consistency, so where possible the replacement carer is familiar to the client.
How is homecare cost calculated and what does it cover?
Costs depend on care intensity, number of visits, duration, complexity of needs, and geographic location. A quote will usually include carer time, administrative support, coordination, and travel. We provide transparent breakdowns.
Can homecare include clinical support (e.g. catheter care, injections)?
Yes, for many clients we integrate clinical tasks (within scope) such as wound care, injections, or catheter management — provided we have the right staff and agreements in place. We ensure all care is safe, compliant, and coordinated with health professionals.
How do you coordinate with existing health teams (GPs, hospitals, therapists)?
We liaise with clinicians, therapists, and other care providers. We request existing care plans, share updates, attend meetings if needed, and ensure integrated, holistic support for the client.
How do you monitor quality and outcomes in homecare?
We perform regular audits, spot checks, client feedback surveys, supervision, and care reviews. We use key performance indicators (KPIs) and follow quality assurance protocols to maintain high standards.
What support is available for family carers?
We provide guidance, respite, flexibility, communication to keep you informed, and opportunities for your input in designing care. We aim to help, not replace your role.
How do I get started with homecare?
Simply contact us via phone, email, or the “Talk through your options” form. We’ll arrange an assessment in the home at a convenient time, discuss needs, and present a custom care plan and quote.
What geographic areas do you offer homecare in?
We currently operate across Kent (or your service region). If you live just outside our primary zone, get in touch—there may still be a possibility or local partner.
